Juniata River in Pennsylvania

Trip Overview

It was beautiful weather and the scenery was beautiful. Unfortunately the water was so low we kept getting stuck. I think if the river had a nice current then it would go faster. I got kinda bored because it was taking so long and we got stuck so many times, but the water was nice enough that you could hop in and take a swim.

The landmarks are hard to find (aren't many) and we definitely mistakenly added a couple of hours onto our trip. It would have been more enjoyable if we stayed at a nicer campground. We stayed at Locust in Lewistown and was not impressed by their demeanor or customer service. I would go to Buttonwood if I could do it over again; I've heard that is a better campground - they rent kayaks and can give directions.

Accommodations:

miserable (at the campground) old and grumpy

Fees:

no
