Trip Overview

Hope Dam is on the Hope/Coventry line in RI. It is a very nice river, very slow moving current on your way out. WHen you get out there there are many forks to split, only one leads out to the dam, although it is fun to explore different routes. The trip to the dam and back should take an average of 1-2 hours depending on your ability. It is a great place to learn to kayak rivers; there are minor obstacles here and there. Nice scenery, some wildlife, decent fishing.

To get out to the dam: when the route splits after you get into the narrower part of the river, stay as far to the right as possible, and this will eventually lead you out to the dam.

Directions:

From Cranston Country Club: Follow hope road all the way out to Coventry, take a left when you cannot go straight anymore, when see Coventry town line take a right just before the sign: boat ramp there.
