I started this trip at 11am at Hersey Village Canoe Landing and Nature trail. This was a Saturday morning and there was only one other car in the parking lot. About five minutes in a had to get out and walk because of low water levels and general inexperience with the river. The water is low this summer and I had to do this only one other time, but constantly paying attention to water levels throughout the entire trip. I paddled steadily for the 4 hour trip to Hemlock Park in Big Rapids. I stopped at Paris park to enjoy a packed lunch, which was a little more than halfway. I would recommend this trip but allow for at least 6 hours on the river.
