Trip Overview

A beautiful day at Henry Hagg Lake. Me and a friend using both of my kayaks went out on a fishing trip. Both of us are new to kayaking, so it was quite the adventure.

Half of Hagg Lake is no wake zone. We were on the half with all the power boats. The wind was blowing about 20 mph. Waves were about 4 feet with the wind blowing off the tops. With all the boats the waves were coming from every direction. We were a bit nervous but had no trouble.

My friend bugged out early and me and my Robson Waikiki plugged through the waves without any trouble. It was slow going but was worth the while. That trip instilled a lot of confidence in my yak.

Fees:

$6.00 for boat

Directions:

From McMinville travel north on SR 47 toward Forest Grove. After the town of Gaston it is a mile to the turn to Henry Hagg lake.
