Trip Overview

Starting from "Narrows of the Harpeth" put-in...

6-7 hours in my solo canoe (with a 10-15 min. break each hour to stretch my legs), will take you to the LAST gravel bar for camp... it's a fair spot with pretty cliffs to your left, as you face downriver.

From the gravel bar the next morning, paddled for approx 2 hrs. to a ramp where a trestle bridge(HWY 49)crosses the Harpeth River, at a roadside camping/picnic campground, not far from Ashland City, TN.

Very picturesque!

About 15 minutes later, turn right just before Harpeth River bridge(look for TIP-A-CANOE rentals on left).

Follow road for about 10 minutes to Narrows of the Harpeth road to the left.

Take to the put-in at the top of some wood stairs(honest!).

NOTE: Parking here is for day-use only, so you'll need a dropoff/pickup.

Resources:

Mapquest aerial view....Type in Pegram, TN....then look for Really tight loop of Harpeth river to the north.

The Narrows are so called because of a 5-mile loop that ends 1/4 mile from where you put in.
