Trip Overview

From Silverthorne, Colorado go north on Highway 9 for about 20 minutes.
Turn left at the sign for Heeney, Colorado. Continue to the sign for McDonald Flats.
Turn down the road to McDonald Flats campground and stay right for the boat ramp.
There is a no wake zone from near the ramp south on the lake to where the lake meets the Blue River.
The ramp is open Thursday through Sunday. Kayaks can use the ramp or launch next to it on the other days.
There are power boats moving at slow speed on busy days.
The rest of the lake is busy with jet skis and water skiers on weekends and holidays.
Monday through Thursday it is usually quiet with nice paddling on the entire lake.

There are some accommodations around the lake, most are found in Silverthorne, Dillon, and Frisco.
