Grant River in Wisconsin

Trip Overview

Small sweet river with lots of beautiful bluffs and rock outcroppings. This little gem goes through much private land with little opportunity to stop very many places. We paddled the Lower Grant... Plenty of little special surprises along the way such as bubbling springs coming from rock walls, and abundant wildlife.

The trip that was supposed to take us 4 hours... We did our trip in 3 and were disappointed that it didn't last longer. There were short areas where there were little rifles but with two canoes and two kayaks, none of us had any difficulty. There were plenty of low spots where we did bottom out, but plenty of others with fast moving water. The only problem we had was at the take out...OMG! MUD WALL at a 25 degree angle.

All in all, this a great little trip for someone that wants to spend a few hours on a summer day. When we went, we were the only people on the river aside from some tubers at the sandy beach pullover...(There really is no place to stop after that) Love the quiet and beauty of the Grant...I will return in the fall and arrange for the longer trip which is available upon request from the people at Grant River Canoe.
