Trip Overview

Eaton Rapids to Holt on the Grand River

We launched in Eaton Rapids behind the Quality Dairy. We spent about four hours on the Grand River in beautiful sunny weather. The trip ended in Burchfield Park on the south side of Holt.

The water for the most part was very flat with minimal current. This is a ideal trip for a beginner or kids. We saw a lot of wild life, herons, sandhill cranes, numerous ducks and geese, a large painted turtle and several muskrats. The highlight of the day was seeing two mink.

Accommodations:

The launch in Eaton Rapids is a little steep. It is paved with loose stone and pierced cement block. It is next to the parking lot.

The launch at Burchfield Park is sand and clay and about a quarter mile from the parking lot.

Fees:

Burchfield park may require an entrance fee during the summer season.

Directions:

Park the launch vehicle in a little park behind the Quality Dairy in Eaton Rapids. Park the take out vehicle in Burchfield Park on Grovenburg Rd on the south side of Holt.
