Trip Overview

Turtle Creek Inn on Little Exuma borders a creek that feeds into vast estuary and sea. Tremendously beautiful, and feels remote in a good way. Took 2-4 hour paddles each day in their excellent sea kayaks and top notch gear. Cays, backwaters, mangrove shallows, fish and turtle nurseries. Great weather each day. Tides affect paddling shallows and you can paddle to the unique Lazy River at The Cut. You can paddle farther or onto the ocean if you want more challenge. Steve and Ronda are warm, super helpful, knowledgeable hosts of TCI. Quiet bliss, so rewarding and serene one hardly needs to go into Georgetown 20 mins away. Three little apartments close to dock.

Safety Notes

Sun is strong, protect neck, face, and feet if wearing open shoes. But their sit-in boats help cover feet.

Gear Notes

Sunblock, hat, much water. Maybe bug juice if out at dusk.

Conditions

Tides and shallows affect routes and timing. Wind can be nothing to strong. 'More' weather tends to blow by in 1-3 hours.

Portage Notes

Launch from dock. Paddle to cays and islands.

Or ask about put-ins elsewhere. Or rent a kayak and go across a 2-mile bay, beach exploring just north of Georgetown.
