Launched from Conner Waterfront Park. Paddled south through Swinomish Channel into the bay. Followed the jetty and the western shore of the island to reach the landing point and trailhead on Goat Island, near a collection of logs and old pilings. Short trail leads to abandoned Fort Whitman then onto a viewpoint on the island's western shore.
