Trip Overview

According to the USGS https://waterdata.usgs.gov/mon..., gage height was 31 ft, discharge 650 ft^3/second, water velocity 1.5 ft/s as measured at Piney Point (a bit downstream). Parked and launched at Terry Hershey Parking lot on HWY 6 29.769992,-95.6437334, launch was a bit tricky due to water speed but possible at this water flow rate. Some Class 1 rapids in the first few miles. Made it to Woodway Memorial Park / Buffalo Bayout Kayak Launch at 29.7645888,-95.4579784 in about 4-5 hours with moderate paddling, the bayou was flowing at a moderate but safe speed. First mile of this trip had 5 portages around treefalls. I would suggest to launch at Dairy Ashford Road instead (29.7613447,-95.6057077) where there is a big parking lot.
