Flint River in Georgia

Trip Overview

Maybe not the best choice to go when the river is this high.

We put in at the Marine Ditch and went to the Flint River Outpost landing. The current made this normal four and a half hour trip turn into a three hour trip. My depth finder was reading depths in excess of thirty feet deep, water was nearly up to the Radium Springs tributary bridge with about a 7mph current.

My girlfriend who is not as experienced of a paddler rolled her Old Town Dirigo 12 which made for a not-so-delightful afternoon. If you decide to brave the high water and fast current use caution and wear your PFD.
