Flint Creek in Alabama

Trip Overview

We entered Flint Creek at the grid coordinates (provided below) in a 16' plastic canoe with a tackle box, cooler, and a couple folding lawn chairs. We started paddling up creek (towards Bowles Bridge). There is very little current, so it's kind of hard to tell which way is up or down creek. We prefer paddling up creek because most of the creek is blocked by trees down; consequently, no motorized vessels.

There are several spots along the bank where you can exit the canoe to rest or explore the many caves along the creek.

We paddled until we reached Vaughn Bridge RD. There we turned around and headed back.

We stopped twice to stretch and relax on our lawnchairs. Whole trip took approximately six hours. Saw one snake, several cranes, and more importantly, no other human beings!
