Trip Overview

These bodies of water are all connected. They are only separated by Nitrolee Dam, Coufer spillway; which are easy portages. Fishing Creek Lake is basically undeveloped on side with plenty of nice quiet coves and beaches to camp on. Duke Power has a boat ramp which is straight across from Bear Creek Cove! Easy open water crossings to the other side. You also have the convenience of the town of Great Falls for supplies. There is a new outfitter coming in May of 2001 called Rivertown Adventures, until then Piggly Wiggly and a Hardware store are your supplier's.

Great Falls Reservoir is terrific! No boat traffic and access to the actual Fishing Creek. You can enter under the Nitrolee Dam Bridge on the Great Falls side. It is a mountain like setting, so that if you closed your eyes and opened them you would think you were in the foot hills. Right now is great due to the fact that we are just getting kayaking started here, very quiet area. Stumpy Pond is a world to itself! You have to see it to believe it. Hardly any boat traffic with access to Rocky Creek. Only boats on this water are slow moving fishing boats. We do not call it Stumpy Pond for a joke, it is shallow and wonderful. The Snowy Egrets love it as do the Eagles. Come on down to our water and enjoy it! I do everyday of my life!
