First Trip ever, stayed Local

Trip Overview

Just a Day trip to break in the New Kayaks and teach ourselves to paddle (watched a ton of video's but not quite like the real thing). My Wife and I stayed local and went to Haig Mill Lake here in Dalton, GA. Lots of getting to know the workings of paddling and feeling out the stability of the boats. A little fishing. Bream mostly, but one small (7") small mouth bass. Let 'em all go. Good place for a leisurely paddle, Great place to learn a little about controlling a kayak, but not where you want to go if you're a hard core fisherman. UPDATE: Fathers Day, I caught my personal best. The Big Ole guy weighed at least 5 lbs, maybe closer to 6. (didn't have a scale) Great Fish, good fight, and released him to be caught by someone else. At Haig Mill Lake, you can keep any fish you want, as long as it meets the state size requirements, but Bass, you have to catch and Release... They're trying to build up a healthy population.

Gear Notes
