Trip Overview

It was my first time on the Darby, but I was out with experienced friends so I felt good. We put in at Alkire Rd. The water was a little high, but it was beautiful. we stuck to the main channel for the most part, but did try a side channel and I got hung up on a log that was across the stream. Got bumped from behind, and got over it, but my friend who bumped me got caught sideways against the log. Kayak Mom, pulled her out, and the two of them went around the log with a simple portage. we hit some class 1 and possible class 2 rapids. Very fun! No other issues heading to the Osprey Lake take out, nobody tipped, we were all happy, and it was a lovely day. I slept so well that night!

Safety Notes

Don't try to cross a log with a Skeg on your kayak!

Portage Notes

Portage was across a small gravel bar.
