Trip Overview

For a wonderful relaxing quiet trip with good fishing along the way it is hard to beat Fall Creek. There is an easy access entry point right off Indiana 13. From there you will paddle down a slow moving stream though farmland and a variety of homes from vacation cottages to multi-million dollar mansions.

About 2 miles downstream there is a beautiful park with nice clean restrooms including flush toilets a nice size shelter house with picnic tables and a large play area for the children with a variety of equipment for everyone to enjoy.

After the park you will continue past a nature area with a large population of water fowl and deer. You will then open up into the shallow area at the east end of Geist Reservoir. Here you can paddle in and out of many canals that allow access to the mansions along the reservoir.

You may be joined by kayakers as this is a popular area for paddling around Geist Reservoir. This area of the reservoir is idle area only so you will have no interference with the motor boats. It is easy to remove your canoe with no fees at the boat ramp on Geist Reservoir right at the causeway at Olio Road.

This is one of the best family trips I know. Children will enjoy the trip as well as adults. It is not much of an adrenalin rush, but it is a fun trip.
