Elkhart River in Indiana

A self-supported trip created by guest-paddler

Trip Overview

We paddled from US 33 (Benton) to Bainartstown near SR 15
The river level was high but not at flood stage.

There were a number of strainers, submerged logs and fallen trees. We had to pull out 4 times to get around downed trees. Chest high nettles surrounded the river making the pull outs a little painful.

There is an unused hydro dam that can be paddled up to off the main river.

The 5 mile trip took us 3 hours.
