Trip Overview

Zionsville to Eagle Creek Park

We put in at Lions Park, Zionsville, which is at northwest quadrant of S.R. 334 and Eagle Creek. Took three kayaks and a bow saw. Nice steady current. Used the bow saw once to remove a tree that had fallen across creek. This is a great beginners run. Just enough action to keep you coming back for more.

Takes about 2.5 to 3.5 hours to go from Lions Park to Eagle Creek Reservoir. Lots of egrets, blue herons and water fowl. A couple of water snakes (nothing poisonous) and a few frustrated folks fishing.

We took out at Lafayette Road bridge which is at head of Eagle Creek Reservoir and just north of park entrance. Highly recommend you park a rendevouz vehicle at Lafayette Road bridge over Eagle Creek (not inside Eagle Creek Park). You will take out here and you are 15 minutes drive back to where you put in via Moore Road to 96th St. to Zionsville Road north to point of beginning.
