Trip Overview

When: Saturday July 6, 2019: Where: From Shorewood (Turtle Park, off Bass Street) to Canal / Sheply Bridge in Channahon. About 4.5 miles. Very scenic passing private property homes and floating under a number of bridges. The river level was up so we made good time. We stopped on a rock "island" to rest, have a beverage and stretch. We did our shuttle about 8:30 or so, and were paddling by 10:15. I think the whole trip was about 2 hours. Weather was warm but dry. Our crew had 3 canoes (5 adults and one child (11)) and one kayak. the take out is nice and wide with shallow water. The only drawback is getting the boats from the water to the car includes a short walk through some bush and up a small incline. When we ran our shuttle there were no other cars at the take-out or the put-in, but once we got off the water and retrieved our other car there were several cars at both points, plus other access points along the way.
