Deer Creek to North End of Lake

Trip Overview

I paddle this section of Deer Creek almost everyday throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall. At water levels of 3 to 4.5 ft, it's an excellent creek to hone your navigational skills. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/mon... At levels of 4.5 ft to 6 ft it moves a little faster, but still a great run to hone your skills. At levels of 6 to 7.5, beginners should not try this section. At levels of 7.5 and higher, only advanced paddlers should try this section.

This section of Deer Creek has a rocky, sandy bottom and flows gently in most places. There are a few faster areas with a few small class I and II drops. There is one portage and depending on your skill level, you may not need to portage at all. Just be sure to enter this area on the far left side to avoid being pushed under a downed tree. At low water levels, <3.5 ft, other portages may be required again based on your skill level. I can paddle the entire trip without getting out of my boat.

Other sections of Deer Creek are navigable and if you'd like more info or possibly a guide, contact me.
