I launched at the boat ramp that is just North of the marina at Deer Creek State Park. After I launched I proceeded North. Deer Creek Lake is an unlimited horse power lake, however immediately north of the boat ramp it is a no wake zone. I proceeded up the inlet of the lake and was actually able to make it quite far before the water was to shallow.
It was a nice peaceful paddle as it was a weekday and early in the morning. If you are a bird watcher you won't be disappointed. They have some nesting sites set up on the lake that are home to some Ospreys and I spotted quite a few Kingfishers and herons. While the scenery isn't as nice as Paint Creek Lake this is still a nice paddle.
