Trip Overview

Crystal Beach is a nice clean beach. There are seldom many people around so it kind of quiet and you have the whole beach to yourselves. Another great thing is that you can drive onto the beach and unload right at the water's edge.

The waves are small to medium and there is one place where there is a large wooden structure (sunken boat or something) about a quarter of a mile out that makes for a nice place to aim for a great point of reference.

Overall, It is a great place to spend a day with some friends or your wife/husband. You can play on the beach while resting-and a few miles down there is a beach that is pretty packed on weekends so you can go party if you want after kayaking.

Accommodations:

You will pass by a convenience store after you get off the ferry so you can pick up drinks or snacks there. They also have bathrooms. Otherwise go in the water because the fish don't seem to mind.

Fees:

FRE FREE FREE, Even the Ferry is FREE FREE FREE!

Directions:

Take I-45 South into Galveston and take a left at the seawall. Go about 1/4 mile and turn left at the light on Ferry Road. That road will take you straight to the ferry. It is about a 20 minute ride (look for dolphins). When you exit the ferry, you will go about two miles and take a right on a street to the right. I know that is non-specific but it does not really matter which road you take. They all lead to the water. Drive onto the beach and have a good day.
