Trip Overview

Tested the French Broad waters at this newly discovered launch point. We haven't Kayaked the French Broad River yet and thought this would be a good place to determine just how heavy the current is. While most people were floating down the river in inner tubes, SUPs, and Kayaks we decided to paddle upstream so that once we got tired, we could float back down to our car. The current was mild until we got to the Haywood Rd bridge, there it took a little work to get past the bridge. We were hoping we could paddle up to the French Broad River Park, but heavier currents made it difficult to make our planned journey. If you plan to Kayak the French Broad you'll need to make sure that you have a way to get back to your launch point. Looking forward to a longer trip down the French Broad in the near future.
