Trip Overview

We arrived at Dusk on Tuesday and put in to find our Island campsite using Headlamps... which was no easy task through the mist and fog of the night. We found our site and set up camp. a light rain and wind came that night. We awoke to a beautiful day and view from this Island campsite, it has a picnic table and fire pit, with a rustic Backpacking outhouse across the way at another campsite. We fished allot but do to the recent stormy weather and wind only caught a few walleye and Bass. Loons are nesting in the North end of the lake so be careful. We took a day and went up the Peshekee River through one portage/Logjam and saw a eagle in flight and found its nest on the left. We continued until the Log jams got to be too many, but for the adventure some you may be able to make it to Crooked Lake. We went the other way the next day through the 3/4 mile portage, mainly flat with a hill at end. Beautiful lake with many coves and things to explore, at far end is large rock you can camp on with trees on it. Also connects to other small lakes. if you come here be sure to come for at least 3 to 5 days so you can take it all in, it is truly a great place to paddle!
