Trip Overview

What a wonderful surprise - easy location to find, smooth flat water to test your strength and simple skills, and plenty of eye candy in birding (watch for the blue and white heron and other nature). As you kayak in the area, you will meet up with some weekend crabbers trying to get a bushel if they are lucky. Beautiful landscape and vacation homes but of course avoid during duck season.

NOTE: Bring your birding book and maybe study up on Maryland crabbing as you will see several people out crabbing.

Accommodations:

Plenty of local hotels on Rt 50 in Grasonville, MD or at Kent Narrows Bridge (yachters can pull up and stay there too).

Fees:

Permit required by Queen Anne County.

Directions:

Very easy from Baltimore or Washington. Get to Rt 50 toward and go over the MD bay bridge----first exit on right is 8 south toward Romancoke go about 2 miles to where Camp Wright is on the right----instead take the left across the street from the entrance to the Camp Wright 1/4 mi to the water on the right ---small country road. Very easy kayak dropoff at high tide.
