Concord River in Massachusetts

Trip Overview

Launched my kayak at the boat launch at 281 Bedford Rd, Bedford, MA at about 9am. Beautiful Saturday morning. The river was very calm and had several kayaks, canoes, and fishing boats out on the water. Made my way upstream , passing under the route 225 bridge and going all the way down to Minuteman park.

The route down is very easy. Motorboats have a limit of 10 mph, but most were at standstills fishing. There is lots of trees and greenery surrounding the river. About a mile down upstream you start to enter the Little Meadow Conservation Area before hitting the Great Meadow Conservation Area the rest of the trip down.

Plenty of birds, geese, chipmunks, turtles, and frogs along the riverbed. Even saw a few blue herons taking flight. Sections of the river can be very buggy, so don't forget your spray.

About 4 miles down from the boat launch I hit Olde North Bridge and the Minuteman Historic National Park. Great place to get out of your boat, stretch your legs, and enjoy lunch if you brought something to snack on.
