Trip Overview

Mangroves are such unique trees. Commonly they are called walking trees because of their habit of spreading from their distinctive aerial roots. Their roots provide safety for a large number of juvenile fish such as grouper, snapper, jacks and sheepshead. The trees also provide protection to humans by mitigating storm surge and as a wind break. On this paddle we’ll explore the mangrove tunnels and see how they shape the Florida coastal areas. This paddle also offers the chance to see dolphins and manatees.

he paddle is about 5 miles roundtrip - expect to be out for about 3.5 - 4 hours
