Clopper Lake in Maryland

Trip Overview

If you live in the DC metro area, are new to paddling, and need some practice, or if you simply want a very easy-to-find, close-by and beautiful place to float around for a couple of hours, then Clopper Lake @ Seneca Park is for you!!

Best off, you can bring friends who don't own their own Kayaks since the boat house rents Kayaks, canoes, rowboats and paddle boats.

I highly recommend going during the week when the crowds are few. Weekend crowds, with many kids, kind of kills the peaceful atmosphere.

Expect to see lots of sunning turtles, fish, deer, and several blue herons who call this lake home. It's the perfect place for a relaxing afternoon paddle.

Accommodations:

Beautiful park area with kids playground.

In addition to renting boats, the boathouse sells sodas and sometimes has bait for the fisher folks. It also has rest rooms.

Fees:

Fee to enter park on weekends and fees to rent boats.

During week... park entrance is free!!

Directions:

From DC and MD points south... Take I-270 north towards Frederick. Exit onto Clopper road - (Exit 10)

Turn right at bottom of Ramp.

Follow through 6 traffic lights and Seneca Park entrance will be on your left.
