Trip Overview
Paddled the upper section of the Clinton from the covered bridge at Elizabeth Lake and Airport roads to the boat launch at Dodge Park on Cass Lake. Houses are surprisingly sparse along most of this section given its location in the suburbs of Detroit. Its like going up north without the drive. Water is very clear and it is not unusual to see blue herons, deer, and muskrats.
If you are looking for fast water this is not the place. The current here is much slower than it is further downstream near Rochester, MI. However, this is a great place to bring beginners for a leisurely cruise.
