Clinton River in Michigan

Trip Overview

This was the first time I paddled this stretch of the river. We put in a Cooly Lake and Airport Road near the covered bridge.

I have not seen such a clean river in Michigan, there was no trash, few homes, no major blockages. There were others out on the river who were very nice and even helpful.

We paddled out to Dodge Park and biked back. The roads are busy and we had to be careful riding. We had to duck under a bridge near the Subway at Cass - Elizabeth and would check it before attempting at high water.

At low water I imagine there would be lots of bottoming out along the way. There is one fork at the end; go right.

Overall, it was a beautiful trip about 3 hours and I would recommend it.
