Trip Overview

We put in at the North Park site in Gladwin, started paddling at 10 am - MANY portages due to deadfall. approx 12. As this was our first real kayaking adventure we were a bit surprised by the fact that the river was not "open". How ever I guess this is normal. We did not have anyone telling us what to expect at this particular location.

Mosquitoes were very bad, take lots of repellent!

The river was beautiful and we did not encounter any other boats the whole way.

It took 5 hours to reach Beaverton which is 8 miles south by road, but by river probably 25 miles.

Accommodations:

Camped at Trout Lake which is 8 Miles North of Gladwin (State Forest Campground)

Fees:

Only for camping, and we paid a guy $30 to spot our vehicle at Beaverton. He was from Gladwin Boat Rentals (Hwy 61 east of Gladwin)
