Trip Overview

Recently I took a trip on Carters Lake in Chattsworth Ga. We arrived at the Marina on the lake and talked to the marina owners about the best places to paddle. We had already made up our minds that we (4 adults) would load up a canoe with gear and take 2 kayaks to the "Boat In" camping area located on Carters Lake. We set out from the boat ramp nearest the marina. It was a bit choppy on the paddle over to the camp site. This made it difficult with a canoe full of gear.

Once on our site we setup camp and instantly set out to paddle some more. The wind was high that day and the waves were rough but if you go just on the other side of the point where we camp the water was glassy smooth. It was an area about 10-20 acres of water just ready to be paddled. We spend most of the day on the water and still didn't see everything. Great place to paddle. I hope to go back soon.

Boat in camping did not provide much for facilities or accommodation. There were 2 outhouses. However, there were several other fully accommodating camp sites available. The marina carried all the necessary supplies for an enjoyable day on the water.
