We started off at Carman's River Canoe and Kayak II shop where they gave us a rundown of what we would be seeing out on the river. They had workers help us into our lifejackets and put the Canoes right beside the dock, which was conveniently right behind the shop, it was actually a 5-second walk to get to the water. While we were out on the water, I saw a bald eagle, (which shocked me) until the shop owner told me that Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge was right on the river. We were blessed to have gone out on a beautiful day, as it cooled down as it shifted into noon, The water wasn't that deep, as I'm 5'1'' and the water comes up to my chest. There were no portages that we came across, and we paddled pretty much most of the river. We came across a waterfall and a whole bunch of other stuff. It was a whole lot of fun! I highly recommend this river if you're interested in viewing wild animals.
River/Creek (Up to Class II)
Number of Portages:
The water is deep enough for someone who is 5'1" to stand in it.
They give you life jackets and you can rent equipment at the Canoe and Kayak Shop.
I saw nothing alarming on the river.
