Calm morning

Trip Overview

6am sunrise paddle from the Woods Pond dock north up the Housatonic river about 2.5 miles and back. Very peaceful on calm waters with little if any noticeable current. The pond itself is much shallower than it appears in most areas. The meandering river can trick you with some "dead ends" so I referred to a google maps satellite image to keep heading up the river (mostly). I saw one bald eagle fly overhead and several families of ducks swimming alongside me during the trip as well as many large jumping fish. I was all alone out there until I spotted one other boat fishing in Woods Pond as I returned to dock (another early am benefit)
