Burned Out Bridge

Trip Overview

This is a back to nature kind of trip. We launch off of Old Hwy 90 About 2 Miles from Burn Out Bridge Boat Ramp, & travel the bayou towards the Boat Ramp. There are many routes and destinations. This route is good for the beginner paddler as the water is flat with low current. It can be a peaceful paddle or an intense exercise. Either way you can enjoy wildlife, fish, bank & set up camp, etc. The water is brackish, & you will see some alligators. It is a peaceful trip for 1-2 or a large group trip. There are motorized boats in these waterways but they are very courteous (low wake as long as they see you). I can't say enough about the scenery. This is 1 of our go to spots for a quick a trip on the water.

Safety Notes

Watch for Alligators. Some are large. I have seen 10'-12' sitting on the bank sunning, close to the Sabine River.

Gear Notes

As always wear your PFD. Pack plenty of water as summer is hot & humid. Camera for pictures. Fishing accessories for fishing.

Conditions

Sunny, Hot, Humid, No Wind. A lot of undergrowth during low tide.

Portage Notes

Portage is only approx 20' to put in or take out. I have not had any spots that I have had to Portage, as there have been alternate routes.
