Bumping Lake

A self-supported trip created by Hikerdoodle

Trip Overview

This lake is a "wilderness" lake with only a few cabins that you cannot see from the water. We have been told that this lake is a wonderful place to camp and boat (small motors only). The boat launch fee is $5.00 or a National forest lands pass. Search on line for reviews, etc. After Labor Day most things are closed for the season. During the peak season it is most likely different than we found it. Unfortunately the lake level could use about 10-20 feet of water. MANY barely submerged tree stumps. My wife actually got stuck on one, resulting in about 10 minutes of getting her kayak off it. The lake has very pretty surrounding hills and mountains. No wildlife except a few birds and ducks. The military jets that sped over us at about 100 feet was our highlight. The boat launch is high and dry with thick sticky mud to launch in. My feet got stuck and into the water I went. (Another highlight!) In spite of negative stuff we did have a very nice day paddling.

Safety Notes

Tree stumps sticking out of the water and many dangerously submerged.
