Brandywine River Adventure

Trip Overview

Put in at 200 Creek Rd in West Chester, pulled out at Smith's Bridge Road. This was a beautiful trip, with lots of wildlife - river otters, beavers, herons, ducks . . . We left at 2:30 and got done around 7:00.

BEWARE though, that there are two waterfalls to avoid. Shortly after going under rte 926, the river splits. To the right, *immediately* after the split is what sounded like a very large falls. We avoided it by going left (and had to duck some low trees to do so) but there is another (probably smaller?) falls on the left route as well. Fortunately, there was a dock on the left bank before that second falls, so we pulled out, carried our boat a few feet past the falls, and climbed down the bank to put back in.

Also, shortly after the Brandywine River Museum of Art, there are some rapids which it might be better to pull out and go around too.
