Trip Overview

Bradys Lake is a man-made reservoir that was built in 1915 and rebuilt in 2007. It was originally dammed to harvest ice. It is a 229 acre fishing and boating lake with 5 miles of trails around it. It is situated on State Game Lands No. 127 in Coolbaugh Township, Monroe County. The lake is owned by the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) and managed for waterfowl propagation and angling. Anglers and boaters (e.g., canoe, kayak, or electric motor only) can access the lake via a 3.3 mile gravel road off of PA Route 940. There are hiking and biking trails, but no picnic areas and no beach area for swimming. Pets are allowed and must be leashed at all times. There are no concession stands so bring your snacks and beverages with you. There are no dumpsters for you to dispose of your waste (pack it out). The road is gravel and dusty leading in. Parking is paved and there are spaces near the boat ramp for parking vehicles and boat trailers. The adjacent area has paved vehicle parking as well. The lake itself is long and narrow. At the far end it is fairly shallow and there is a lot of aquatic vegetation near the shoreline. Wildlife is abundant. You will see osprey/eagle nests, beaver lodges, deer, turkey, ducks and geese. You may be lucky and spot a black bear every now and then.
