Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Minnesota

Trip Overview

Started out of Moose Lake and headed through white caps about 600 yards to the first portage. It was a little rough I had my partners 6 year old grandson in between us on the bottom of the canoe. You just never know.

The exact route I'm not sure of, but the original 7 day trip got reduced to 4 because of weather. It was the coldest June I'd ever experienced in Minnesota. And I lived in Ely for a while.

We passed two nice waterfalls and beautiful marshes, I love the rock formations, but now they kind of blend together for me. The one thing that made this trip special was we camped at the same site as a friend of mine had during the blow out of 1999. The trees still showed signs of the strong winds and I still can't believe they survived.
