Bosuns Yard Bishopthorpe

Trip Overview

Was caravanin g on the site at bosuns yard, I am a beginner, having only been on a lake a couple of times. Bought the kayak 2nd hand from the net. I had a couple of short 'tester' trips, but finally did a mile n half up to Acaster Malbis, away from York direction. Lots of wildlife on the river, you can stop at York Marina at the village of Naburn, where there are shops, pubs and York marina. I went up to Acaster and had a pint at the Ship before returning to Bishopthorpe.

Th Ouse is slightly tidal and a bit more effort in one direction than the other: I'm a beginner, 66, but reasonably fit, I managed it okay.

Yo jjust need to be aware there are other bigger boats on the River, but it is quite wide, I didn't stray too far from the embankment and there was no probs.
