Blue Marsh Lake in Pennsylvania

Trip Overview

There is another entry or launching site at Blue Marsh away from the marina. It is off of Rt. 183. There is no one collecting fees there to launch. I have been at this launching site two times. This is a separate part of the lake then the other section with the marina. It is "a no wake zone" and there are few motorized boats there save a few folks fishing. It is very calm and yes, the water is quite warm.

From this part of the lake there are streams that you can paddle in. They are calm in the beginning but as it gets shallower or between two tighter sides it is a little more rapid, nothing major though. You are then paddling against the stream which provides a litle more of a workout and skill.

This is great site to finish your day of kayaking with a swim in the lake. A good, easy and pleasant place to kayak.

Accommodations:

This site is basic with a double loading site for water craft.

Fees:

A PA launching fee but no others that I have seen on two trips.

Directions:

It is west of Reading on route 183.
