Trip Overview

Black River - Pine Tree Landing to Browns Ferry Landing

We put in at Pine Tree Landing at 10:10 a.m., two kayakers; one green horn & one novice paddler. High tide was around 9:15 a.m, first two miles have signs that tell you where to turn, and what mile market your at.

First public landing is Pea House Landing on the left.
Very nice landing, few vehicles in the lot and no one on sight. They have picnic tables and an old swing hanging off a tree on the bank. About 200 yards down on the right is what I have heard people call Pumphouse landing (I think it's I.P.'s old pumping station).

Be prepared for the next long haul, no public access, but many private docks and landings for the homeowners on the river. We had to stop a couple times to stretch along side the river and eat lunch.

About a mile below Lawshe Plantation is a real nice sandbar that stretches along the river for those that are traveling in large groups. No signs or anything, but I'm sure if you leave it as you found it they won't mind you stopping for a break or lunch.

In all our trip covered 17 miles and we made it to Browns Ferry Landing right at 18:00 hours. The last 4 miles, the tide started coming back in and we had to paddle pretty hard to make it down river (I suggest you watch the tides and start early, so you can catch the end of the trip with the tide).
