Bennett's Creek Park and Boat

A self-supported trip created by VirginiaPaddler

Trip Overview

Great facilities. Restrooms, Park for the kiddies, trails, frisbee golf. 3 ramp launch. Hang a left out of the launch and go 3 miles to a small island where the creek splits in 2. Here it is extremely shallow at low tide and you will most likely end trip here. Plenty of photo ops for Egret and Heron. A lot of crabs and small minnows. Few turtles (Diamondback terrapins) as the water is brackish. Amazing group of River otters near the end at the island split. Second short branch of creek flows southeast from launch for about 1/3 of a mile. Nothing remarkable this direction. Easy paddle even though it is tidal. We used a 1972 Plastic Grumman Canoe.

Safety Notes

MUDDY! Dont fall in.

Conditions

Tidal.
