Badger Lake

Trip Overview

Hoping for a somewhat secluded paddle, I was skeptical of my choice driving through the trailer park adjacent to the put in, setting all the shore development, and watching the power boats whiz by. But I'd driven an hour to get there, so... Fortunately, after a little paddling, the houses disappeared as did much of the power boat activity. At the extreme north end, I was ALONE with only the sound of water plants whispering along the bottom of my kayak. Returning, on the NE end of the lake I noticed some swarming birds and discovered a long section of cliff swallow nests (see pic). Paddling to the north end and back was just over 5 miles. As an added bonus, exiting the parking lot I drove by 2 feeding deer unconcerned by the fact I was only about 10 yards away, giving me ample opportunity to stop my truck, roll down the window, and snap a couple pics.
