Trip Overview

Husband and I launched kayaks from this location on the Bad River on 6/14/2025. Road a bit rough driving in after leaving Hulien Road for the access road, but we were rolling in a stock Ford Transit 350. Large gravel parking area. No facilities. Easy launch, not steep. Met a friendly local guy who was fishing on the bank and who gave us info about the river. Slow moving current. We decided to head downstream. Paddled for an hour, reaching the the confluence of the Bad and Shiawassee Rivers. Turned around and paddled upstream another hour to reach our original launch point. Wooded along the banks. Saw turtles, Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Eastern kingbirds, a Sandhill Crane, heard warblers and other fun things. Would do again.
