Trip Overview

Launch was active dual boat ramps at Back creek park Yorktown virginia. 3000 Goodwin Neck road. Very nice, clean area with plenty of parking for cars with trailers if not in main parking lot then along side of road. Bathroom at entrance to park by tennis courts. On busy days lots of boats loading and unloading but we still pulled right up unloaded boats by ramp on parked car short walk. While big boats being unloaded we slipped right down ramp and away we went staying to shallows on left side of channel padding easily past large homes on the water with docks and boats on our way to Goodwin Island. A nature preserve that you cant walk around on but there are some sandbars around it. The out paddle was super easy wind at back but he the way in was a chore. Total out and back 3 hours we did not tour whole island but will look forward to that next time. Crossing the channel not to bad but time it out as to not go across in front a big power boats (yeah they dont slow down for you at all).
