Trip Overview

A pretty drive from DC, Riley's Lock - 24 / Seneca Creek Aqueduct was a great find. Had plenty of parking, and a few good spots along Seneca Creek to put in with two or three boat ramps across the gravel road from the parking area and also able to "hop" in off the bank in a few places as well. And it's free! Paddle down the creek and go under the small bridge at the Seneca Creek Aqueduct out into the Potomac. Head north with lots of open water. Current wasn't too fast the day I went, but came back down the left side (opposite of the golf course) and picked up some current to get a little rest in. Someone else mentioned this, but coming back down the river the aqueduct is hidden until you basically get to it so not really easy to visually tell how far you've been, but nothing concerning. I was worried there might be rapids, but water was flat and super clear in most places. Would recommend for anyone, including solo paddlers.
