We parked in the picnic area car park directly off the roundabout the opposite side to the Grantham Arms. Lots of space for parking but it was a Monday early afternoon. Directly under the roundabout bridge there is a slope down to the water where you can launch, very easy to get in the water off a solid concrete side. You can then go west or east past the weir and up the River Ure. We went west in the direction of Ripton and saw a few birds (possibly Herons but we’re no experts) and also passed some lovely river side houses along the way. We turned just before the lock by Westwick and headed back to the same spot. All in all it was around 3hrs at a very leisurely pace.
