There are around 10 free car parking spaces right by the river with a great cockpit height concrete launch point. Paddle upstream from here past the rowing clubs and moored live aboard boats to the lock at Cambridge which again is an easy portage with public toilets. A short paddle then to the famous Backs through the heart of Cambridge where the punting stations are, past the colleges to The Mill where there are a couple of pubs and another easy portage stage if you want to go on the Grantchester.
